I think that a big chunk of Viruscan revenues come from users upgrading form their free trail versions which come preloaded on their new PCs. If you look closely, you'll find that NETA gives away its software for free through DELL, HWP, Gateway etc. It has the same strategy all over the world. The strategy is to get people to upgrade to get the new virus definitions. The sale of Viruscan on new PCs is very limited since you anyway get it for free. Also, note that Viruscan came as a part of Microsoft Plus which retailed for around $30. Here again the strategy is to get users to upgrade. That's why I only focused on my estimate of 5 million users upgrading every year.
