Kennny, way to due the research. Try out that nifty little search window a the bottom of the thread, type in a word like maybe, hmmm, "offshore" and then click search. If your reaaaall lucky you'll get a list of subjects and one of those might be Shorting with Offshore Accounts. That might give a little info., of course it's a lot of work doing all that.

Would not call anyone a dumb shit, especially someone that wants to learn. My suggestion is to do an SI search for "offshore". There is a thread somewhere on sI dedicated to offshore accounts.

Kenney,

Go to Anthony's new site and click on FAQ's. It will lead to a site that discusses what you need to know. But so far, it has not enough real specifics. The following is a summary of some of the things that I have read, but I can't vouch for the info.

1. Set up an off-shore business/corporation. The following is a suggestion and I can't say that it will work. Call Wade Cook Seminars and see if one of their divisions can set up one for you. CAUTION: The company is excellent at promoting itself and their products or services which are not cheap. 1-800-872-7411. As a side issue, I have found that this site (Anthony's)has more more good practical info than some of their seminars.

2. Have your new corporation set up a Canadian brokerage account. I have not read of any Canadian brokerage that anyone has recommended. Greenline at 1-800-862-9595 is the Canadian branch of Waterhouse. Verify policies on shorting from a number of brokerages before making your decision. I recall finding a reference that lead to a list of Canadian brokerages at the offshore SI BB. Two dollar figures that have been batted about is $100,000 and $50,000 minimum for an offshore brokerage corporate account. Once again, I don't know if either figure is correct.

3. There is also a tax issue that you must consider. I have not seen any discussion about this on any board.

4. After saying all this, I really looking forward to the seminar and Anthony's new thread! Maybe by the end of August, I can have a Canadian account or the equivilent also. In one of Anthony's many posts, I read that he hopes to be able to help after the new site is up and running, so I will be patient for now.
