And which of these, pray tell, does not contain an Intel processor running Windows NT/9x, or connect to a box doing same?

Dennis -
You are attempting to make a distinction that no one else in the industry makes. They don't call them "WINTEL servers" for nothing. CPQ, HP and IBM do multi-billion dollar business in systems that use neither Intel chips nor Widows Software - DELL does not.

DELL is currently working to change that through initiatives with Novell, Linux, and others. For example, Mike Lambert will be on stage at BRAINSHARE in Utah next week as a keynote speaker. But these efforts have not translated into any significant revenue.

I think that any reasonable analysis of DELL's business would show that close to 100% of DELL's business is WINTEL. There are strengths and weaknesses to this focus, but it has obviously been a good strategy for DELL in the past. But the poster's point is well taken - a shift away from the WINTEL base would mean more adjustment for DELL than for the other big players.
