It bugs the "h-e-double hockey sticks" out of me - I wonder that even if IBM were to have a real "bang-up quarter" or two, would the street still find something wrong with the results ??

Net seems to be that things like triple-witching, downgrades (possible "hidden agendas" as JK intimated ?), etc. cause the stock price to drop, even when the others in the Tech sector are rising; then with good quarterly results announced, the stock seems to retrace its previous path, with virtually no advance net (2 steps back, 2 steps forward). Seems only the "volatility traders" are making any money lately. Market whipsaw actions not helping either.

I hope the sales folks are not "sleeping" as Arrow notes previously...would think that most co's. would RATHER get on the bandwagon re. new replacement systems EARLIER in the year vs. scrambling late this year (re. Y2k issues, etc.). Also, I would think that capital is typically available moreso earlier in a fiscal year, further adding to this train of thought.

Here's hoping the company does significantly better (rel. to historical trends) earlier this year and this is shown in the first 2 quarters especially (remember the old "Perceptions vs. Reality" Theorem). Perhaps then the brokerages will then sit up and take notice ??
