Always happens at opts expirs - not any hint in IBM's shelf offering

Would IBM float a shelf issue to a major brokerage house which pays interest and not disclose a significant revenue downturn:

sec.gov

Latest amendment of sale to Solomon Smith Barney was on 3/16/99 who will re-sell these notes .

IBM was heavily bought at $166 recently - Wonder if Morgan Stanley had a "agenda" today ?

I do not believe there is any services slowdown. In fact, what CNBC
was reporting does not match what Morgan Stanley stated. CNBC said
there was margin pressure and I believe MS said there was no margin
pressure. Neither is totally correct but any price attrition
in the Server hardware sector is going to affect margins and the
servers still produce good profit. How would you like to be a
Dean Witter retail customer with in the money calls and have this
dope come out with an "institutional" call to the MS internal
institutional reps at 2 pm with none of the retail reps getting any
info but what comes through the rumor mill. How would you like to be
a DW retail account exec and have to find out about this on CNBC and
then scramble to get to your accounts that either are long IBM or own
the calls. I have to believe there will be major static from their
clientele. If I had my balls cut off like that I would be at their
headquarters in person.
