Dennis -
I wouldn't call a server or a storage device a PC.....would you??

I would. Almost everyone in the high end business refers to these as PC servers or WINTEL servers. I know more than most about the architectural differences between servers, workstations and desktops. But the CIOs of the world do not. I think I understand and generally agree with your point, but that was not what the poster you were originally responding to was talking about. Does DELL make routers, dedicated internet devices which are not Intel based, or any of the other areas the IBM exec was discussing? How much would it cost them to get into those businesses? How well would their business model work in those markets? IBM, HP and CPQ are already in most if not all of those markets.

Should DELL get into those markets? Would they have likely success if they did? Talking about what DELL has done successfully in the past does nothing to explore those issues. This is a very legitimate question for DELL investors to ask.
