Travel and the Internet do go extremely well together and nobody out there is coming close to fulfilling the promise. Computer databases are very good at categorizing and storing lots of information from a variety of sources. For something as complex and changing as travel (planes, trains, cruise ships, rentals, hotels, meeting places, restaurants, conventions, sites, etc, etc.) having an expert travel agent or planner to guide the traveler has made a lot of sense. But scheduled travel and rate structures can be easily gotten into a common or connected on-line database. Fewer “experts” who enter their advice and revisions once for all to see can replace the advisory function the agent often provided. What is also very possible is providing customer feedback - similar to the user reviews provided by Amazon: "I found this package tour of St. Manuel to be a great bargain, but I suggest spending $50 more to stay at the Paradise Village Inn." 0r "Don't come to the coast of Barbados, the storm on March 18th left the place a wreck."
