OT - Just have to ask:

If I am an analyst & I downgrade IBM & it falls $9.00 am I free to just go and pick up this stock for my firm. These guys have lots of clout & can easily drive a stock up & or down and in my humble opinion is nothing short of manipulation.

Todays downgrade of IBM was based on only 4% of IBM's business. IMO a very over rated negative review of IBM & yet people freak out & sell. Does anyone ever check to see if these analysts end up buying a stock they have just pounded.

Just imagine picking up another 100,000 shares of IBM at 9 bucks cheaper & if it pops next week, just dump it for a cool 900k.

Have a great weekend.

Mike

Smart Investor,

If and when Win00 (which is really NT5) comes out the present 32 MB PCs are going to face a lot of performance torubles. That I believe will be a time for a major upgrade cycle of PCs (one independent of the CPU cycle). I expect memory to be much cheaper by that time as well, so the PCs may still continue to be entry level and support Win00. So the war will probably be still open. AOL however has built an incredibly powerful brand ...

I fully agree that DELL's primary domain being the corporate world it may escape the carnage.
