AOL is improving its customer service and extending its brand in some really smart ways. Recently I started using a FristUSA AOL Platinum Visa Card. It did not take long to earn credit to pay for AOL service. IMHO, this is a great way for AOL to build customer loyalty and develop some additional high margin revenue streams. Co-branded cards can be VERY lucrative for both parties. My old company examined a venture with Citibank. So far AOL's Platinum Visa service has been outstanding -- and I can even pay my bill online. Below I enclose an email I just received from the customer service team: <<Dear Sbvc1, Hello, my name is Carrie and I am writing you on behalf of AOL Visa, in regards to your recent E-mail. The fee buy down balance is the amount of cash credited to your America Online account, for redeeming your AOL Visa Reward Points. The points are transferred from First USA to America Online, where we post the points as cash. The cash is then automatically used towards your monthly membership fees, starting on the next billing date. The credit may be viewed online by going to Keyword: Billing. Choose the option to Display Your Current Bill Summary. Sorry for the confusion. We greatly appreciate your participation in the AOL Visa Rewards Program. Please feel free to write anytime you have questions or concerns. Customer Service is very important to us. We hope you were satisfied with the service you have received. Have a great day! Carrie AOL Visa Customer Care Consultant>> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If AOL is able to infuse this level of customer service into all elements of their operations, they will be doing very well in the years to come!! BTW, I hear that DELL has rolled out a new co-branded credit card program as well. Hmmm....some of these smart high tech powerhouses know a good thing when they see it <ggg> . Best Regards, Scott
