Ten,

Granted, they may be frivolous, but don't they make you a little nervous now that you just bought a position in AMD?

No. I don't think that the courts are going to be interested in managing the day to investments of short term traders. The February conference call was only last month after all. A three week product delay does not justify a lawsuit.

As you well know, unexpected problems do pop up in engineering from time to time. What if I bought INTC two years ago on the basis that I thought Merced was going to kick rear in 1999?

Tenchusatsu Re: Lawsuits -<don't they make you a little nervous now that you just bought a position in AMD?>

A day or two ago you asked if the thread thought it was time to get in again. I almost responded that it might be time to nibble but not to dive in. I have now nibbled AMD at $16.25, and a little of CPQ. I expect I'll be nibbling down 'till announcement day, and will then decide wether to dive in based on market reactions.

IMHO, the lawsuits won't amount to a pee hole in the snow. If you are concerned, look at the history of filings vs market performence at quote.yahoo.com for each of cmm and cmo, two mortgage reits I bought in the depths of the October massacre(I have since sold both), but continue to hold SGMA which I bought at the same time due to fortuitous flood. You will see many of the same lawyers names involved. Ultimately, I would expect the lawyers to make some money, since they file so many lawsuits - hey $1M here & there & pretty soon you have 10 firms of lawyers chasing every earnings disappointment. (That's about my current count of firms who file on most major earnings problems.)

Good luck in your investing - you seem sincere!
