My condolences for you all taking such a hit today. Reminds me of the hit I took in MRVC last August - very similar. I've never owned CATP but have watched it for the last 5 years.

With MRVC it was the management that let us down - failure to execute among other factors. Management there owns about 20% of the company and the highest salary any of the top execs makes is $100,000 (that's correct!). They are frugal but they really do weird things. Press releases of substantive business information are rare. They keep shareholders in the dark on many issues and the management (BOD) is insular and not balanced.

Before their earnings warning of 8/27/98 there was no insider selling to tip us off to problems. This is in direct contrast to things going on at CATP. For instance, in the few months before last summer's CATP debacle there was heavy insider selling. And again in the past six weeks, since Feb. 9th, there has been heavy insider selling. Mr. Sims, who one year ago held 2,266,327 shares, has sold 384,000 shares, all being sold just prior to bad news and major sell-offs. I'm wondering if anyone here saw any "red flags" with insider sales. I welcome comments on this.

Management here has obviously lost credibility with the street, so I don't think anyone should get their hopes up about a quick rebound. These things take awhile and you have to consider the time value of money. I bailed out of MRVC the morning after the warning and have made back about half of my loss in better places. MRVC flounders 15% below my sale price. Good luck all.
