the fact is, Chambers had a chance to buy Cascade and went elsewhere, much to his chagrin today. No doubt a certain amount of his negative commentary about how the ASND-CSCC merger went stems from his own mistake in failing to take the opportunity AND leaving the door open to Ascend; when Cascade's share prices tumbled due to some tansitory problems Mory swooped in and scooped them up.

Some Cascade shareholders active on SI complained and complained but my hunch is that today they're all smiles...

???? Not sure where you are going. Cisco - including the entire executive team has been very clear that LU is their main competitor. Again, Chambers comments about the success of the LU/ASND merger have nothing to do with his beliefs about the quality of LU as a competitor.
