AJ,

Your name or nickname came up tonight is the oddest place. One of my clients is a racetrack in the Chicago area. This track races trotters twice around a half-mile oval. They were racing tonight so after I patched up their software, we left the business offices and headed over to the track. I would be on 1 race before leaving for home and a late night dinner.

I know almost nothing about horse racing or the nuances of wagering so I relied heavily upon the 'horse sense' of my associate, the VP of finance. I said I would wager 10 bucks but would need some help. We bet on the 2 horse to win and to show and also bet an exacta with a box on the 2, 3, 4 horses and retired to a private area near the finish line to watch the race.

Well, it was my lucky night. The 2 horse won and my exacta paid off with the 3 horse placing second in a photo finish. So I took home 29 bucks on a 10 dollar bet. Kinda makes you think about Winspear, doesn't it?

Then I thought about an old saying, "It's better to be lucky that smart." This made me think about Johnney Paquet.

My client said his favorite horse was in this race. This horse has blazing speed, but does not do well from back in the pack. But in the 1, 2, or 3 position, this trotter often wins with very favorable odds. His favorite horses name? AJ'S DAD!

I am really not kidding at all!
