I use MBTrading. Of course, they offer many more routes and pre- and post-market trading. However, you have to choose a route and many times I have chosen Island for a fast fill. I have found the speed of the fills through Datek are just as fast as my direct entry orders at MBTrading to the Island ECN, as they very well should be since you are using the same ECN. Of all the routes, Island is many times the quickest. It also has a lot of liquidity. All this is assuming the order enters the Island book.

One negative about Datek and Island is the partial fills.

You should probably ask others their opinions since my experience using a direct order entry broker is much less than I would like it to be. Tim Luke over on the No Guru's..No Hype..No Scams..Allowed thread uses Watley and he has much more experience using a direct entry broker. He could probably give you more insight concerning all the different routes.

Good trading.
