John: I greatly appreciate your having shared your thoughts.

I actually own some HAL leaps right now. I sold them on the 11th and bought them back cheaper on the 12th. I also own a very small amount of eBay. I wish, more. I have great faith in that one.

I think one of the reasons I swapped almost half my VLSI shares and also my April calls, for Leaps was to provide insurance for something not working out as we expect. I do think VLSI will work it out eventually and that the odds are we'll get our 25ish deal, but there's always the chance it will take several months or fall through and have to start again in six months. Moving to those leaps gave me some current cash and bought me plenty of time for it to play out. I paid a pretty premium for them, too, so I lost some leverage! But in the process I took a nice profit in my March and April calls.

I decided to be cautious. You're being even more cautious. Of course you bought in at a miraculously wonderful price and have about a double on your shares right now. Wow!

I bought one other thing with my cash. I bought some BMY leaps. The stock seems quite battered to me and it's always a great one on the long term.

Given that the market was so badly hit and all my stocks are down except for VLSI, I may lose the rest of my cash to margin adjustments on Monday. So I'm not sure how much buying power I'll have next week.

I do appreciate your having kept me apprised of your thoughts. Do let me know how it goes.

Linda

John and Linda, yet another perspective from the Yahoo thread. The person who did this did a helluva research job:

One more reason to hang in there...
