Board Says Insurance Companies Should Pay for Viagra, Xenical

The Federal Drug Commission recommended to the Federal
Department for Social Insurances that insurance companies
should pay for patients' use of Viagra and Xenical, the
world's two fastest-selling prescription drugs. The commission
said that, if approved, doctors should only prescribe Pfizer
Inc.'s Viagra if men were impotent for at least six months,
and Roche Holding AG's Xenical if patients are obese, not just
overweight. Insurance companies said doctors would likely not
adhere strictly to the government's conditions, adding that
monthly premiums would have to be raised. (Tages-Anzeiger)
