There are currently terrorist cells operating in the US. I heard some rumours of some activities in Arizona when I was in college there. And there are a few assorted groups here in the DC area that specialize in fund-raising for terrorists. >>> Islamic Councils operate openly and without shame in the US, advocating our destruction quite without any apparent sense of irony. The actual terrorists, of course, keep a lower profile <bg>. As to <<And while I'll not seek out danger, neither will live my life in fear of terrorists. >>, the intent of my post was not to advocate drastic liberty limiting security measures or for that matter to otherwise live in fear of terrorists. My objective was to point out that yes, these people do pose a threat and are very readily capable of harming us. They aren't just a problem for "over there" that we can dismiss out of hand as nutcases that we dont have to consider because we have two oceans at our back. In reply to Gustave on militias in the US, most of the hoopla about militias are media hype. Most of these "militias" are normal patriotic Americans that have no desire to blow up federal buildings. There are some people out there as always that pose a danger to themselves and others, but they are the minority. Of course, the bad ones are the vocal ones, so one gets a distorted view of the proportion of good to bad. And believe me, the FBI has a watchful eye on the bad apples. A lot of conspiratorial minded people have no where but the US govt and the UN to turn their imaginations to after the Cold War, so you suddenly have the phenomenon of "black helicopters" and UN forces staging areas in Texas with Russian tanks on US soil. Not to mention the CIA/ASAF coverup of the imminent UFO invasion... <g> And dont even get me started on the Bilderbergers LOL
