I called in and listened to the Electronics Boutique conference call. There have been a few posts mentioning good Voodoo3 news so I decided to call in and listen.

ELBO said that they have had significant pre-orders and reservations for the V3 and that it will do significantly better than the previous generation. The release has been pushed back to April. They are happy with the purchase of STB, it moves 3dfx "closer to their market".

The pushback to April is somewhat dissapointing. The earlier they release the V3, the more TNT2 sales they'll beat out. Of course, they may be concentrating on supporting their OEM wins.

I was hoping that they would have product in stores and ready for their the release of their commercials. Once they air, good retail execution would be to have product available for purchase.

I'm also wondering what the delay is in the STB proxy. We're past the mid-point in March and no sign of it yet nor has 3dfx released any type of update. I've asked about it via e-mail and voice mail this week but no answer yet. I'm a little hazy about the quiet period (we're pretty close to quarter-end for 3dfx), but I think they should be ok in answering questions on the proxy. Has the SEC cleared it yet? When will it be mailed out? What is the current guess as to when the merger will be completed?

All-in-all, I think that we will be in a "silly season" until OEM announcements and the earning releases come out. I still haven't seen any reason to sell my shares, the potential still looks good. I like the fact that nVidia, ATi, and S3 are all public - more information that can be analyzed. I'm eagerly awaiting the 3dfx/STB proxy so I can do some analysis there.

Michael

Pat, I saw the EA announcement for Need for Speed for the playstation and it got me thinking about the gaming bundle. The Voodoomag guy speculated there may be a racing game involved and I was thinking that maybe TDFX was talking with EA about this one. Funny thing is, I went back to your link re: the bundle at 3dfx site and saw that the bundle reference is no longer there (same sentence without the ",like Unreal..." part. Anyway, I would be extremely surprised if 3dfx didn't have an EA game in the bundle ("like" could be interpreted to mean that "several" more games/demos could be included ;) All the posts talk about the 2000 (no bundle) being sold so I guess there's still a chance for a surprise in the press release. That baseball game they just came out with sounds pretty cool but I think that would be too much to ask for. Joe C.
