Thread, your thoughts on which PC to buy? Or, should I keep waiting? Right now I am getting the error message, "CPU is not powerful enough to perform video decoding" when I tried to watch a show from Broadcast.com on a Pentium II (using the latest Real viewer, OS NT.) I'm only able to watch clips from other sites :( I'm not convinced a Pentium III will take care of this problem. Someone posted a message (3 wks ago?) about an HP system which had a TV plug, CD writer, etc. Which HP system was this? Is the Sony model LCV 600 better? But it sounds like it didn't have a DVD? What else is missing or lacking? Which PC manufacturer do you recommend? Why are people excited about Dell? How does Dell compare to HP, Sony, NEC, etc. Should I stay away from Compaq? What do you recommend and why? Btw: I need to buy from a manufacturer who has excellent technical support because right now I'm so busy I may not have time to fix things myself. I'd prefer to buy direct w/ TS package. I need a PC that's basically an entertainment center: good quality video for watching full-motion video, stereo quality audio, TV plug, ADSL card, PC-fax, and it would be nice if it were H.323 compliant, etc. Also need to do some Illustrator/Photoshop work. Which monitor do you recommend - right now I have NEC MultiSynch XV15? Should I keep it, or is a trade up necessary? Also, I have to do backups. I currently do these by Zip. W/rspt CD writer, how much data could it store? My backup data is about 100MB * 10. Also, I may need to install a network card later on - some consumer PCs can't handle this, so am wondering which ones do, if any. Thanks, Amy J
