Lazslo Biriyni comments on Dell from Barron's..read the interview-->

Q: Yet at least one of the leaders is changing. What about the
recent setback in Dell Computer?
A: We have so many inputs in this business, so many situations, that
we tend to forget that just a year ago, Intel announced it would have
a bad quarter and the stock opened down 10 or 12 points. Look at
what the stock did the rest of the year. These things tend to be
isolated and of short duration. And people worry that it marks the
beginning of a new trend, or the end of an old one. That isn't
necessarily a well-founded fear. We recently provided some
historical parameters to clients, showing that Dell is actually a good
solid company and the selloff was more a case of some people who
wanted to take profits all along. These are quarterly events. What
happened in Dell was interesting.
I got so many phone calls from
people asking, "Well, now that we've lost the market leadership,
aren't you worried?" The point I made was that since 1990, we've
had 22 corrections in the semiconductor group. It's normal for these
groups to have significant setbacks on a fairly regular basis. The
world is not ending for the Intels and the Dells.
