yes, the risk is spread to all FRO and GBLX shareholders but so is the potential reward. also, a stock swap allows GBLX to acquire FRO without creating a tax burden for FRO shareholders.

you oppose stock-for-stock deals on principle?

beach buddy, please don't take this the wrong way, but you're talking crazy: GBLX could do a bond offering or a number of other means to raise the cash.

An $11 billion dollar junk bond offering? (GBLX bonds are rated B1/B) Don't you think that would cause several third world nations to tank?

Unless i'm mistaken, WCOM's $6B offering last year was one of the largest in history (definitely the biggest for a telecom).

AT&T is planning one slightly larger (maybe up to $10B over the course of the whole year). Of course AT&T's bonds are Investment Grade.

Let's think about market cap:
WCOM: 197.8 Billion
AT&T: 139.6 Billion
GBLX: 20 Billion

Maybe they could do a bake sale or weekend car wash.<G>
