EES,
You been there. A good one for that was the Cattlemans Bar in Edgemont, SD. The old long western bar on one side and tables for eating on the other side. Central City, CO had good bars. It's gone upscale tourist now.

I'm trying to remember the small cross roads bar in SD that was really the only building in town. The sign outside was very simple. It said BAR. Real cowboys drinking red beer on Sunday morning comparing rodeo notes from Saturday night along with cattle prices. At that time they still drove the cattle up dirt roads to a sale barn. Wonder if they still do that.

Deadwood was still a little wild with legal houses of ill repute. The Days of 76 Rodeo was a wild week long event. Six shooters were fired with blanks on main street by anyone who owned one.
