My first post was not a rebuttal, but this is.

One, if you knew anything about this industry, you wouldn't be comparing IOS and NT like you do.

Two, Siemans is not 3Com. 3Com as a company does not have a strong direct sales force, and 3Com as a company does not have high-end products to compete bigtime in the converged network market. Siemans does, but I would venture that Sieman's sales force makes money for Siemans, not 3Com. In case you didn't know, this industry is littered with "alliances." The only effective alliances in the networking industry are acquisitions, and they only work on occasion.

Three ... based on everything you've just told me about Siemans, I take back everything I've said about 3Com. They don't have 40%+ of their business tied up in price-pressured low-end products (that's NICs and modems to you). They don't have any problems extending their presence, and proven customer service and support into large enterprises and SPs. I guess they WILL kick butt in Germany, given that Siemans owns 60% marketshare!!! (that's it? one would think it would be higher!)

I let you judge if I'm serious.
