hrp, you are correct. The main reason is more and more OEM inclusion. I think it was 58% of their zip drives last Qtr. But if you believe in the following
upside.com
then it should not be an issue from fall since the cost of zip drive will come closer to floppy drive. They reached their target of $99 for external few months late and so even if they bring that 2 chip version by year end, it should be OK. But when it comes to IOM, i can't be too optimistic anyways :-<

Sounds like a good idea. Can anyone point me to quarterly computer unit sales data somewhere?

Should this percentage be based on all Zip drives, or just OEM drives? I think OEM drives might be more accurate, as retail drives are probably sold into the existing computer base.
