David, I have never been in the business of data storage. We have a LAN at work in an 8X8 room, and an administrator who knows his stuff pretty good. There's some storage involved and I go back and spend time with the administrator and chat from time to time. But aside from that, all I see is a bunch of wires going every which way. As I've said before, I only know what I read and learn from my friends here.

Having said this, I'm sure you remember the Coopers and Lybrand (now CoopersPriceWaterhouse) report from about a year ago that they had to withdraw when they realized that EMC was their customer. The incident itself was terribly funny. I downloaded the 10 page or so report via AdobeReader but did not keep it. But others here may remember. Bottom line in the report was that MTI blew EMC away in every category. But if some of the categories have changed, David, I am not aware of it. I am aware of the fact, however, that EMC continues to grow by taking market share from IBM and refusing market share to the pathetic little puppies like MTI, Boxhill, et al.

And I simply have to call you on your statement "Thre are dozens of features that EMC offers that MTI can't."

While I understand your passion, I seriously doubt that there are "dozens" of features.

Greg

MTIC is suppose to advertise soon!
People on the yahoo board are indicating that MTIC will start advertising soon the Wall Street journal. From listening to MTIC's conf calls their sales guys do pull in bigger size deals now. They talked about $1 million dollar one with Double Click and others similar. Clearly that is what they need to do. Certainly EMC is the leader and they are great great company with excellent marketing and products. The area that MTI has an opportunity is the mid tier open UNIX(and Linux)and NT market place only because EMC's solution is hard to justify from a price/performance standpoint. That is why MTIC seems to be targeting the ISP's and portals because cost is a bigger factor and they may not already have EMC. Once EMC has a client they are hard to win business. Also it appears that SUN and HP for now do not have a full fibre solution in that space and the 6700 is full fibre and also targeted at the SAN market. I believe that this management team can turn the ship around following the misses primarily related to mylex controller problems. Now mylex is back on track from a product standpoint and MTIC has their controller also. Noorda is very capable and has made proper management changes (Hammerslag and appointing Ramondi and others). FYI Noorda is still the largest holder in NOVL (20 million shares).
