OK, catch up time... That article from last week, I think it was a ZD article, was just poorly researched and irresponsible...the hype for TNT2 was unfounded, and the 73% figure for games that use Glide was stupid...73% of the games out there don't even do 3D, much less Glide (though I would say that 73+% of future games will be at least D3D enhanced). I believe they mixed that up with TDFXs dominance in the retail add in board area...sloppy article. Finally saw the commercial...it was great! But waaaay too long. 30 seconds and twice as often please, tdfx.... Sun, how right you are about TDFX not knowing to use "on-line" and "internet" as opposed to "direct marketing"... 20M on marketing sounds insane...but if it works, and a wide range of consumers can actually identify the 3dfx name- it may well be worth it...in the long run (though I don't exactly know what long run means in the computer biz...is the long run when thin clients/net pcs running java are given away for free, have minimal quality hardware components, and DELL and MSFT have gone the way of the dinosaur? :) CREAFs latest remarks about metabyte dual-card deal and TNT2 yields are very promising, as are the pre-buy estimates for V3... Q1 will likely be a dog, but I believe q2 could look a lot like last years V2 launch (those were the days...) ----------ot---------- Well, things are finally going my way...EIDSY- a company every TDFXer should be familiar with- has been launched into the solar system. With all the crap I have put up with over the last year, I feel I deserved it :) PMTC seems to be breaking out- about time- though I have only a small position remaining. More significant than my gains in the stock are the implications of the larger orders, especially those from Asia...and speculation about FORE hit the wall again on Fri- though options started rolling on Thurs...anybody notice FORES crazy ways on Fri? The volume was shocking...I have been through the hype with EVERY network company I have ever owned, and have always jumped out too early. And after getting burned on XYLN, I am NOT getting out of FORE just yet (even though this may just be the old rumor mill in action- again)...Oil service doing well also...and gas is back over a buck here in NY...finally, a really, really good week...enough about me, though :) Still wishing I had gone long VISX sigh
