I am humbled by your eloquent and tremendously intuitive response.
I view myself as an intelligent engineer , sometimes, too omniscient (in my own mind),BUT

I don't know the easy life of sales, Thanks for setting me straight.

I'll try not to be too ignorant going forward.

But you said " few SFA products are designed and implemented by sales reps. " How is that possible? Sales guys are rarely in the loop of development, mostly arrive after the fact for redesign/update even in new products development. However this reminds of the first few years of CAE work in the mid 80's, it takes a few years to get the proper feedback to improve the product. I'd say CAE was really solid until the 88/89 timeframe, or about 3/4 yrs of refinement before mass use. Today the timeframe should be compressed by the nature of the business to 2/3 yrs. So it should be embraced now, I guess.

But I still have issue with the class of sales personnel who reject the
notion of the change to use SFA. That seems ill-fated to the Roman Empire Syndrome.
