The transition to a market economy is quite different from what we face in y2k, but external concerns, food, clothing, shelter, heat are always the same. This is a solid reminder that we don't have two options: total collapse or maintenance of the status quo. We have many more possible scenarios that we must be prepared for.

I agree that Shell seems to have recognized the Y2K problem early. And I'm hoping that they will be able to minimize their problems due to that proactive response.

And Douglas Carmichael has been perhaps one of the most popular speakers at the DCY2K workgroup meetings. He has a non-techie wholistic approach to Y2K issues that everyone seems to appreciate. (A bit touchie-feelie for me, but that's more my problem than his... :0)

But at the spriritual level, he brought to to workgroup a focus on the human psychologica side of a technical issue.

It will take individual leadership on everyone's part to calm and console those who, despite all the news on Y2K, find themselves mentally unprepared for it.

Regards,

Ron
