Well- first off you have to know your area very well- because you get the best deals when people have lousy pictures or have miscategorized their item. Second, you need to ask a lot of questions- and they have to be the right questions. Third- I look at feedback and if a seller doesn't have any I ask for references- and I check out those references- so far I have had 99% positive experiences. You can get ripped off at a swap meet too- because a lot of times you are shopping in the dark (most of the best sales happen before opening time, frequently around 5 in the morning)- and at a swap meet most folks don't care about their reputation so they will often lie, whereas on EBAY reputation is extremely important- people really do NOT want to get negative feedback.
