uncle,

are you uplifted at all by the the past two days' news that 2 major dram mfr's have just announced shipping samples next month and have set volume production dates?

Not really, because at this stage of the game, it is expected. I would be more worried if we did not hear about these announcements. Again, I'm not saying this does not matter, it's just that they better be sampling RDRAM at this stage and ramping production if they are to meet a Fall introduction roadmap!

is it reasonable to think they believe they have solved whatever the technical glitch was?

No, not IMO

as far as the performance question, i think sony answered that one loud and clear.

Good point, but remember, they also went on to say that they were concerned about foundry production.

The main point I am making is that we are several innings into the ball game and WS is probably expecting to hear about sampling and production ramps. Although it is good news, it is expected, IMO, thus no "surprise" or "new" news there.

Regards,
