Larry -
this has nothing to do with SANs. This is a product which provides a front end to web servers and allows rapid access to frequently used pages. It is primarily important to internet service providers (ISPs) although there might be some use in corporate intranets.

Your points are true but have nothing to do with this product announcement.

The significant part of this announcement to me is that DELL was first to announce a bundled product with Novell caching software. CPQ, which has 60% of the installed Novell NOS base, would have seemed a more logical partner for Novell. This is an extension of DELL's strategy to broaden their customer base outside of the windows base.

Larry, re: Internet Caching System

As the net grows so does the data and so does the need for speedy access of the data. As we move to a broadband net, the delays to access this data will be more obvious then before, here is were caching appliances will shine. Also, I would like for someone to come up with a Moore's like law predicting the growth of data as function of the number of URL, or addresses or users, maybe all them together.
