Brich,

Your sampling period (9/98 to 3/99) is still way to short to predict your profitability/longevity over the long haul. You may be using a momentum strategy that works fine during this short market sub-phase but will crush you if you continue to use it under different conditions.

Annualized rates feel good to compute after you've been on a roll but are much more useful looking back after 2 or 3 years.

Alan

I'd say you better watch out for that great big semi because your chevette will buckle when it gets hit. Exercise extreme caution.

My portfolio (from a small inheritance)
is up 83% since Sept.1, for an annualized rate of 153.7%.

Great, but careful. You picked a timeframe during which the market itself has rocked (from DOW 7,500 to 10,000). Starting off too easily can put blinders on you and cause you to fail to take measures to minimize the inevitable losses.

Good luck,
Gary Korn
