Telecom is my second favorite industry. In the wireless sector, MCOM is one that I watch. It's one of Paul Allen's interests.

Metricom Deploys Industry's First 128KB Mobile Data Network

LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 16, 1999--Metricom, Inc. (Nasdaq:MCOM - news), leading provider of wireless data networking and technology, has completed deployment of the industry's first 128 Kbps radio frequency equipment into an alpha network and today launched field trials supporting the forthcoming high-speed wireless Ricochet2 service.

Following an intensive internal test cycle and aggressive deployment schedule, the Company now begins field trials for the service in four cities within Silicon Valley. WIRELESS...picture yourself working in the backyard by the swimming pool ...working on the beach ... working in the a park with towering trees... you are looking at Market Gems...reading and answering the
posts... checking out the stocks with Level II ... Yes you can do all
of these things with a laptop, Level II from Signal and subscribe to
an ISP wireless company:

It brings up the question of some emerging companies have certain technical edges over the giants ATT, Bells and are the targets for the acquisition sooner or later this year.
