The Z-thread has been in the forefront of cooperation and helpful discourse about stocks in the techology sector. In the interim they have had a very popular chat room on mIRC and have had a camaraderie that I could only describe as enviable and worthy of emulation. You didn't have to ask us but I respect you for doing so. This is a great tribute to all who have made Z Best Place to Talk Stocks and Z Portfolio a success over the years. Nobody that I know of who actively participates on this thread feels a sense of competition between this and other threads. We are all on Silicon Investor to share ideas that will hopefully increase our profits and this is one of the founding principles that this thread was built on. In that vain, I look forward to viewing your watch list and wish you good luck with your new endeavor. Please let us know if we can do anything to help you. Most everyone here has an opinion lol. Thanks, Dan **************************** In addition to their thread they have a 'Z-portfolio' of stock with an 'amount of money' and members 'buy' stocks using this money and they have their portfolio full of tech stocks. It is a wonderful learning experience and its just plain fun. Since I don't like to 'copy' someone else's idea I have asked if we could do something along the same vein but not a 'portfoio'.. It will be a 'second thread' more passive, Like the Gems Watch List or something and we can watch our stocks there not actively as we do on the gems thread but more like an end of day update and/or mid day update. The stocks will be in this 'portfolio or list' and we can see first hand and together where they go in the next week or month. Every once in a while we update our list and see what's up. (stocks appearing in Wall Street Journal, Investor's Business Daily, Newswires, etc) Probably it is a bit late to start this but we still have about 3 weeks until next earnings season, and if it works as a test we can really make use of it on stocks reporting April/May earnings season. We will be looking for answers to the following questions: (do stocks that beat the street really move up on average more in the next 1-5 weeks b) do Watch lists stocks that break out of important resistance go on to make bigger and bigger gains etc. c)How far up will overbought stocks on our watch list go before finally retreating etc.. d) How long does it take for a stock that doesn't move or moves down to recover if at all.. In order that we don't end up with hundreds of stocks, we might chose to focus on watch list stocks that HAVE NOT moved up rather than the ones that have... and for the earnings plays of course we stick with the 'street beaters'.. CPRT is still in portfolio and so are a few others (GCI,GUC,GPSI, etc) and it would be nice to track them even after I sell just to see statistics 'live'.. So instead of me saying put your 'street beaters' and watch list candidates into a database we can do it together. If for any reason something does go wrong and the stocks become in any way 'tarnished' we will move ourselves to the market gems website (in a free and unsecured area) but with 'invite only' passwords (for free of course).
