AMD has been making x86 CPUs since 1982.

If it took them 17 years to become competitive to Intel, it was due to lack of competence - not a head start.

And don't you often like to remind us that AMD had the fastest 80386 and 80486 CPUs on the market ?

That would indicate that AMD HAD a head start and LOST it - just like they LOSE MONEY.
