The potash mines are only extracting 30% of the seam. This is due to depth being over 3000'. Pretty high stress levels.

On the other hand, Nanisivik on Baffin Island gets greater than 80% out of the ground since they are shallow with little stress.
Nanisivik may be a good case study here. All in costs( mine+mill+ overhead) last year were only $C40/tonne mining at 2200 tpd. Much wider seam though and they don't pay the miners well but does provide some inspiration. Also they are on a natural port site. Cheap transport. The Breakwater or Sedar sites have some info on Nanisivik if you are interested.

Capital costs can be kept down if you go the Atco trailer route and modular mill but remember, you need enough site storage capacity for diesel and propane in particular to get you through a year.
