Melinda, you remind me of those left wing liberals who can only see what is wrong with America and the constitution and not what is right. Are you forgetting the fact that all over the planet at the time of the constitution the philosophy of equal rights was about as rare as finding a witness to a man standing on the moon?

It's easy to sit back in your chair some 200 years after living through the benefits of the words written in the constitution and find flaws with the people who framed it. They were not God's, they were simple men who created a unique vision. Was that vision fully realized in their lifetime? Of course not. Will it be fully realized in our lifetime? Probably not. But does that make the vision wrong? Does that make the ideals and philosophy wrong? Does that make what they wrote wrong??

Because of the Constitution America has become the shining beacon of morality and justice throughout the entire world.

Because of the Constitution a great man by the name of Martin Luther King was able to change the hearts of bigotry and sew the seeds of true freedom for all our people.

Because of the Constitution free speech and the free expression of ideals has spread like a wildfire around the planet.

Because of the Constitution and it's ability to change and grow through Ammendments women are able to vote, own land and follow whatever dream they see fit to follow.

Because of the Constitution America was able to end the ruthless rein of Nazi Germany and free Europes enslaved people.

Because of the Constitution we have never had a monarchy and have been able to transfer the mantle of power without bloodshed over and over again.

Because of the Constitution America has become the wealthiest, most industrious, most innovative place ever to inhabit planet earth.

It's easy to be an armchair quarterback sitting back in your recliner
200 years later and criticize the framers of the constitution. I suggest you go visit some of the graves of the people who gave up their lives because they signed it. It might give you a better sense of proportionality.
