HERE IT COMES ---- DIGITAL ME

Novell To Offer Privacy Technology For Internet - NY Times

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Novell Corp. plans Monday to announce an Internet technology intended to give Web surfers greater control over their identities as they travel through cyberspace.

The New York Times reported Monday that Novell hopes the technology, called Digital Me, will gain acceptance as a standard means of controlling identity on the World Wide Web, permitting network users to reveal or retain as much personal information as they wish.

Novell said the Digital Me software acts as a digital safe-deposit box for personal information - not only name, address, credit card numbers and such, but also possibly the telltale electronic codes that
can identify a person's PC and be used to trace his or her Web travels.

When an individual visits a Web site, the Digital Me software would enable the user to control how much personal information the Web site collects from this digital deposit box.

Novell plans initially to release the Digital Me technology in this year's third quarter.

Is this not a great company.
