NVIDIA Broadens Market Reach With Vanta 3D Processor

Monday March 22, 7:06 am Eastern Time

Company Press Release

Vanta Design Wins Highlight CeBit '99

HANNOVER, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 1999--At CeBit today, NVIDIA(TM) Corporation (Nasdaq:NVDA - news) officially launched the NVIDIA Vanta graphics processor designed specifically for value-conscious users. This low-cost, highly integrated graphics processor will allow add-in-card vendors and OEM's to provide a graphic processor, complete with breakthrough 3D and industry leading 2D performance, for their entry-level add-in-card and motherboard solutions. Combined with the previously announced Detonator drivers, NVIDIA provides software compatibility across its entire product line.

''Vanta brings NVIDIA's award-winning architecture to the mass market,'' said Jeff Fisher, vice-president of sales at NVIDIA. ''Vanta's unique combination of high-performance graphics and extremely aggressive pricing allows our OEM's and system builders to deliver NVIDIA's industry-leading graphics processors to two markets not currently being addressed by our RIVA-based family.''

NVIDIA Vanta has already been met with immediate success. 10 companies, including A-Open, Asustek, ELSA, Diamond Multimedia, Gainward, Gigabyte, Guillemot, Leadtek, Mirostar, Prolink and Yuan Yuan will be demonstrating their new Vanta-based products for the first time at Cebit '99 in Hannover, Germany. These companies are estimated to deliver over one-third of the graphics products to the worldwide systems builder market.

''Vanta's advanced graphics engine packed in a compact package provides a great solution to the integrated graphics on the motherboard,'' said Jason Cheng, vice president of engineering at Asustek. ''Vanta is unique in that it meets our cost requirements for an entry-level graphics solution but doesn't compromise on features, quality or performance.''

In addition to the above manufacturers, look for future announcements based on NVIDIA's Vanta from additional add-in-card vendors and OEM's throughout the coming months.

NVIDIA Vanta

This latest addition to the NVIDIA family is a low-cost, 128-bit TwiN Texel, highly integrated 2D/3D graphics processor, designed specifically for the value-conscious users. Leveraging the RIVA TNT2 core architecture, NVIDIA Vanta delivers breakthrough 3D and industry leading 2D graphics performance, making it the ideal solution for 1999 value desktops. In addition to its outstanding graphics capabilities, the NVIDIA Vanta provides complete support for video, software and hardware DVD playback as well as the latest system technologies such as AGP4X and flat panel displays.

The NVIDIA Vanta graphics processor is perfect for small and medium business users who require a high-performance 2D platform and for corporate users who also have data-intensive visualization demands. NVIDIA Vanta will be WHQL certified for Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, Windows NT 3.5, Windows 98 and Windows 95. The drivers for Vanta are forward and backward compatible with the Detonator Driver family. Reliability, compatibility, performance and quality at a low-cost are the reasons why NVIDIA Vanta is the product of choice for leading OEMs and system builders.

Pricing and Availability

The NVIDIA Vanta graphics processor will be priced at $19.00 in 10,000 unit quantities. The NVIDIA Vanta is sampling now and it will be in full production this quarter.

Jeff,

Thanks for the link. I agree that it is a pretty straightforward review. My favorite line...

So if your not willing to shell out $200+ the Voodoo3 3000 is easily the best price-to-performance card out there.

I believe that consumers will draw the same conclusion.
