Michael and Thread. A question, very basic. How many voice calls can a CDMA base station handle at one time?

The answer to that question is not as simple as you want.

The number of calls depends on how many calls you already have, their proximity to the base station, the coding rate that you are using, the ambient electrical noise, if there is a rogue phone blasting away, and many many other variables.

The answer to this question in a TDMA based system would be fairly easy, it is the number of time slots available. However due to the nature of CDMA you can't and won't get a straight answer.
