Speaking of Momentum Trading, there was an NPR piece on daytrading last week in which they interviewed a few traders at a trading room called Momentum Securities.

One trader, a newbie, had done over 2000 trades that day, all on DELL, moving more than 2 million shares, or 1/39 of the total volume in the stock for the day. He had lost $20K in the process -- wonder where the money went?

Very sorry to hear about all your technical problems. What makes your current ISDN line "bad?" And, isn't there anything that you can do about it? For example, can't the phone company fix the problem?
