Computer Associates is going through a difficult period. It got slammed by the Asian Flu, and its bread-and-butter mainframe software has been hurt by the Y2K slowdown and a general movement away from mainframes. CA pre-announced weak earnings for FY'99, and it's been transitioning to a new service-centered business model which many analysts think will not provide the same high margins CA enjoyed before. Its recent pummelling came from some downgrades by analysts. I'm long but I'm looking for some solid earnings this coming quarter to get me out of my position.
