Try Fidelity-- or call your broker-- many times they will let you short.

Or try an offshore account-- perfectly legal.

Or marry a Canook.....

Osprey, I don't know why BB stocks generally cannot be shorted by most people. I can't do it as freely as I would like but it is possible.

FYI: I always have between $300K and $700K in cash in my brokerage accounts (depending on my trading activity) so I guess they brokers don't care if it is marginable as my credit risk is nil. The problem is the price the stock has to be at and the amount of shares I can get.

However I am trying to remedy that. With the silly picks I have seen here and other places lately I started to do a tracking program. I found that following the picks and hypes on just Daniel's board the last month I have logged each one in and found that as of market close Friday they are in total down 46% . This is based on buying 1 share each as of the time they were first mentioned here. So I am now talking to my attorney about getting me a business location in Canada to do just that. It could take a while though.

In the meantime I call the three houses I deal with and beg for shares. Sometimes they can get them, sometimes not. Basically if I want a decent chance at success the stock needs to be at least $2. If it is over $4 I have always succeeded in borrowing shares. At that point I just have to settle for what I can get though.
