I have to agree, if one looks at the anecdotal news, the sell off in DELL just does not add up. But the market never lies.

My concern is the silence from DELL. Did anyone hear anything from them?

Dorine, I have never properly introduced myself, but I have been posting here for a couple of months and have been long Dell for some years now (just discovered internet trading about 6 months ago and SI at about the same time). I think perhaps we are still focusing on killing the messenger when these analysts make their proclamations. They are all looking for notches on their guns, trying to pump themselves by "calling" these short term fluctuations. We all also know what a great company Dell is and will continue to be. I pay very little attention to these Q1 drop offs in the PC sector. Every 1st Q the sector takes a breather from the frenzy of selling and channel stuffing of the 4th Q holiday buying surge and every 1Q the analysts play the "slow-down" game. When the rest of the year proves them wrong nobody remembers their call and they do it again the next year, hoping against hope that they will be right. IMO, unless you are familiar enough with options to create some insurance for you're long position to ease your mind, I would just sit back, hold on and wait for the rebound and the many years of outstanding performance that you know is ahead. Do you really doubt that Dell will be one of the few companies left standing in the coming PC consolidation as the industry begins to mature? JMO. Good luck and aloha.
