TA levels to help bottom pickers: 50% retracement level from October 1998's bottom ($20.375) and February 1999 peaks ($55) is at $37.6875. Aggressive daytraders can try their luck defending this support level. In fact, RT quotes show a big battle going on right at this moment at this level. Down below, there was a breakout gap at $34 to 34.25 and also another breakout gap at $32.875 to 33.125 during the rally back in Dec.1998. Good luck to the "longs" ! A good strategy here is to short April 35 puts at $2 or higher. Support at around $33 should hold, barring a major disaster.

Larry, fundamentals (at least the ones I use) are not predictive of the market value of a company. From a broad perspective there are only two parameters that determine valuation: long-term interest rates and investor perceptions about the stream of future earnings. The interest rate front looks remarkably stable because inflation is continuing to do the impossible; it has pulled a vanishing act in the face of full employment. But the perception part of the equation is anything but stable. If it were possible to anthropomorphise expectations, they would take the form of manic depressives. I've been invested in Dell for almost two years now, and I've seen this behavior before. In all probability it will flip-flop in a week or two. TTFN, CTC
