Ross Systems Announces General Availability for Renaissance CS(R) Transportation Management Release 4.3
ATLANTA, March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Ross Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: ROSS - news), the leading provider of ERP systems to the mid-tier process manufacturing market, today announced enhancements to its Transportation Management module of Renaissance CS. Transportation Management Release 4.3 provides improved visibility into shipping information at order point; enhanced distribution locations and routing capabilities to optimize costs; improved freight cost accounting details; and enhanced load consolidation optimization.

Transportation Management provides the ability to schedule transportation, organize routes and assign carriers to customer and intra-company product movement. It features the ability to plan and schedule carriers so loads can be consolidated to maximize shipping efficiency and lower freight costs.

''Renaissance CS Transportation Management Release 4.3 provides organizations with the ability to decrease shipping costs, improve on-time performance and increase customer satisfaction,'' said Dwight Klappich, Ross' vice president of industry marketing. ''As an integrated component of our enterprise resource planning and supply chain management solution, Transportation Management provides organizations better visibility into their shipping information and strategies. As a result, they can make their supply chain operate more efficiently and ultimately serve the customer better -- all results that we are delivering to Ross customers today.''

Renaissance CS Transportation Management Release 4.3 includes the following capabilities and advantages:

* Better visibility into shipping information: Transportation Management
Release 4.3 makes shipping information available at order entry so that
the appropriate transportation plan for an order can be readily
selected including a route and carrier. Enhanced Available-to-Promise
(ATP) functionality allows the order taker to see what is committed to
existing orders, what is available across all warehouses within the
supply chain and what is in the planning or production process. As a
result, users can be more responsive to their customers by fulfilling
orders on a more timely basis.

* Distribution locations and routing capabilities: This functionality
allows you to define source and destinations along with routings to
determine the best possible route and what the costs will be on any
given route. By providing transit times and lead times, organizations
can meet their committed customer delivery dates.

* Calculating freight costs: Transportation Management Release 4.3
captures and calculates the freight costs an organization will incur
from various carriers, such as trucking, railway lines, or air
transport companies. Expenses can be accrued and "pro-forma" invoices
that match the carrier's invoices can be produced. In addition, the
system captures freight cost accounting details, automatically makes
applicable finance postings, and provides for the comparative freight
cost analysis-by-order per selected route and carrier.

* Distribution and load consolidation: By appropriately planning loads,
shipping costs can be drastically reduced. Renaissance CS
Transportation Management allows for consolidating loads, or splitting
orders across multiple trucks.

''Since mid-tier process manufacturing companies usually do not have large IT organizations, they demand a fully integrated ERP solution with rapid implementation, low total cost of ownership, and high ease-of-use,'' said Klappich. ''As a fully integrated component of the complete Ross Renaissance CS offering, Transportation Management Release 4.3 automates many of the traditional manual tasks that slowed productivity and prevented organization- wide visibility to transportation and shipping costs.''
