Roader,

Let me guess, you're an AOL user and possibly a shareholder?

AOL is not going to be displaced by ATHM. There is room for both. But increasingly folks will demand broadband and ATHM will be there to provide the services. We've gone through every one of your points in detail over the last few months. Look back for answers to all of your concerns. As far as content, AOL's biggest problem is their proprietary interface. NSCP could fix some of that. ATHM will soon have XCIT which will become the premier broadband site on the web.

Personally, I look at AOL as spring training for ATHM. Once users have gained sufficient web knowledge from their 90 day free trial of AOL they can graduate to ATHM and unrestricted broadband internet access.

In the meantime, if you're worried about ATHM infringing on your AOL profits, sell some AOL and buy some ATHM. Better do it quick, we're up 20+ today.

Regards,
Stuart

>>3. Masses: The masses that will use the internet are not techies,
techies are the minority by far. Regular people from every walk of life
are getting online. They
mostly do their thing in chatting, email, shopping, and fun.<<

I put all of my clients, friends and family that are completely new to computers on AOL (primarily because its a safe place for them to start out)....and guess what...EVERY one of them thinks that AOL is slow and that the content is at best mediocre. They say things like....Why do people think that the WWW is going to be such a great thing...its so sloooooow. If AOL doesn't make a deal with ATHM at some point and this is looking very unlikely right now....they are going to see a huge out flow of users. No one expects AOL to just rollover....they are definately going to put up a big fight. But, ATHM will cherry pick off the top of the demographics and then the masses will flow. DSL will stem the flow somewhat....but tell me... What is the Keyword to sign up for DSL on AOL? Can I sign up today, next week?

Go back and look at a chart of AOL stock price and number of users 3 years ago....now go put that curve over ATHM and see what you get in three years. If I were you I'd start hedging my AOL position.
