DELL risk to lowside could be .70 (FYear 2000 EPS) times
about 30 PE or about 21. This is all here. Any further
discussion should be on DELL thread.

lindy,

Thanks for your report. I have no intention to get in DELL above 30. But I also don't see it dipping toward 30 unless the market turns south. DELL has a good chance if it really becomes a player in the E.commerce area. I am currently heavily in MSFT & AOL. Began to accumulate LU today at 100 1/8 for the split play. However, i am getting very uncomfortable about the mass mania about AOL. Sure this company has great potential...but isn't the game being stretched too far too soon by momentum players?

I am just not comfortable with a 120 billion company commanding a PE of 600. No matter what valuation model I use, AOL is no worth than $70. And I will also say that their product sucks. Not to mention that there are lots of companies offering better product with lower monthly fee. Well, I will stop at that. Everyone will think that I am crazy to complain about AOL when I am making nice gains on this issue.

good luck,
larry!

LindyBill, larry, and DownSouth:

Though I am in agreement with you on the short term prospects for DELL's stock over the next 3-4 months, I beg to differ on simply assuming that it will begin to trade like a box maker in the long term.

DELL's primary advantage is their awesome management team, and because of this awesome management team this company will grow and prosper outside of the pure box maker market segment. They're already planting the seeds for this growth in areas like storage equipment, and anticipate a big push from them in the networking systems arena at some point in the future

Mr. taxman and I have debated playing the DELL calls, LEAPS and other option alternatives. My best advice to him was to focus on the longer term plays as the short term ones are going to have problems. We are seeing it now. The biggest obstacle for DELL is going to be the Street, but I think in time they will win this battle as they have almost every other fight they've engaged.

Long term, DELL is a great investment.
