Look I warned people a long time ago about the sub-$1000 market and Intel

Yes it's happening, but in an expanding market it doesn't matter. Intel still has all of the profit centers under its control. More important to me was Intel's lack of diversity in its products (something to balance any recessionary slowdown in PC sales) and Intel's utterly obtuse public face.

When Novell introduced digitalme(tm) they consulted with and involved Susan Scott of TRUSTe, Inc., a non-profit internet privacy group. You can see what Intel did from listening to what Paul Engel has to say about privacy groups.

The company has to change its image. It has to show that its technological advances will be good for empowering people and giving them control and not just good for establishing a "benevolent" police state under Bill Gates control.
