Oh my god! That means Merced is no better than K7 at floating-point!

Or at least- "I believe that you believe that I believe that Merced is no better than K7 at floating-point!"

The remarkable similarities between the 21264 and K7 microarchitectures might help explain how K7 came up so quickly. I'm guessing that Compaq is not going to be suing AMD for Alpha patent violations.

The Dec Alpha spec95fp of around 45 (today ??) should be matched by Willamette in mid to late year 2000.

Foster - the follow on to Willamette (or the "server version" ??) is targeted at 55 to 60 spec95fp, which will, hopefully, keep pace with the Alpha in one or two year's time.
